Early Life to Garreg Mach
Born the 18th of the Verdant Rain Moon (8/18) in the imperial year 1160 in House Kayne territory. He is the only child to Count Kayne and his wife. Sylas' mother passed away due to sickness when he was 14. After her passing, his father became more controlling of him. In fear of the bloodline being lost, he began arranging marriages in hopes to keep the family name and crest alive. After going through a few suitors, Sylas fell for one of his ex-fiancé's brothers leading to a secret relationship. The two were eventually caught and the original proposal was cut off. His father did not approve of Sylas' sexuality and treated him poorly; however, he did not disown him due to him bearing a crest. With the feeling that his life was spiraling due to his son's identity and the passing of his wife, the Count turned to alcohol to cope which led to him frequently abusing Sylas in his drunk rages.
